I have thought long and hard about what my focus and overal goal wanted to be this year. It has taken me the entire month of January to decide. I have not been taking it lightly, I have felt great responsibility as a mother and a wife in our home especially lately. Today in our relief society lesson the stake leaders came and spoke. I was enlightened. Then I came home to find this wonderful quote from Sister Hinckley on one of my friends social media posts. It spoke to me and I know now after my Sunday meetings what I need to focus on this year.
Being cheerful! Having joy in our home! Seeing the good, intentionally pointing out the positive in our children and in Adam.
Here is what I plan to do about it. Already this year we have been starting a new tradition at dinner whenwe go around and everyone shares their happy thing of the day. It teaches our children to look for the good. Sometimes it’s really hard for them or me in reality to come up with something happy to say. We all have down days or days where nothing can go right. Yet, there is good and happy everywhere we look. We need to learn how to be positive and how to see our blessings always. That is just one way that I plan to put my goal for the year into action. I also plan to take specific and intentional time to be with Adam. Having four children is busy. Adam works and so do I. When the kids go to bed there are many things to get done, but nothing more important than taking time to talk to each other and build upon our relationship with each other. We are also going to try to get back to going on a date weekly if we can. Sometimes it doesn’t happen here and there but it is a great habit to be in. Putting my spouse first I will never regret. I know that Heavenly Father wants us to be happy! I know that if I focus more of my time and energy into our home and the relationships here we will all be blessed.

Oh Sister Hinckley is a wise woman! I admire her strength and always have!
