My kids love water!

And really, nothing more needs to be said.

Mack Park water fun!

Just yesterday we went to Mack Park in Smithfield to play with our Mendon friends. It was so fun! The kids loved the river or canal thing. Dayton kept saying, "Mom, the river is really really cold!" And it was! I enjoyed talking to Amy Garbe and Teena Young too. They were and are such good friends to me and I am glad we have been keeping in touch. :)

Cousin Time

These were taken when Lisa and Cord came up yesterday for dinner. Sure love my sister! My kids sure love baby Talia or "liya" as Dayton calls her. It's been fun to have a cousin.

I had to blog these!!!

Priceless photos that I missed blogging! All taken summer 2012, enjoy!

Simple pleasures

Dayton is playing with the hose.
Has been for an hour now.
He is totally soaked and muddy.
Who cares?
Im trying to let him enjoy being a little boy.
He saw butterfly's in the yard and said, "The butterflies are thirsty, Mom! I need to water the butterflies." So thoughtful of him! He he!

Rachel is enjoying her new found pass time of standing up against things. It's opened up a whole new world of exploration for her. That makes me happy! Today I caught some cute pictures of her standing at 7 months.

Fitness pal

I am so proud of Adam! For the last month he joined me in using an app on our phones called my fitness pal. It simply tracks your calorie intake and exercise. We both wanted and need to loose some weight so we have been doing it together! I feel very supported because Adam is doing it! We have both lost weight and are trying to be healthier over all. It is a good change! I do want to say that in 1 month Adam has lost 13 pounds by simply tracking calories and riding his bike to and from work with an occasional night run here and there. Go Adam!!!! From the time I have been using this app until now I have lost 12 pounds but that is over about 6 months time. Boy do I wish I could loose as fast as Adam but it's not in the cards for me now. It's been something we really enjoy doing together and it gets us out hiking once a week carrying the kids and walking pretty much every other night. Next week I am starting the couch to 5k program. We will see how that goes.

Big Boy

Today was Dayton's first time getting his hair cut by someone other than me. He was so awesome and looked so big after! He chose to sit in the airplane chair and watch How to Train your Dragon. He also pointed out every single thing in that place while getting his hair cut. They do have some fun decorations! He especially loved the zebra umbrella. :) He even got a sucker and a balloon at the end! He did not whine or fuss once!! Score! Totally worth $12 to not wrestle with him. He normally does pretty well with me but he definitely fights me more on it, duh I don't have an airplane chair, and I don't do it nearly as well. I'm pleased with Cookie Cutters!

Before
During
After
And of course his orange balloon!

Green canyon hike

Our weekly hike was up Green Canyon this time. It was beautiful and shady. Dayton loved all the grasshoppers and dragonfly's we saw. We hiked about two miles. Rachel rode on my back for half the time which was much easier on me but bounced her around much more so she was not as happy facing backward. This really has been enjoyable for us to do together. :)

Our kids at 7 months and 28 months old!

We sure have been blessed with two sweet kids! We sure love them both! They just keep growing and although some days seem like they will never end most days fly by and I am left wondering where the time has gone.

Rachel is 7 months and can...

Sit up and play all day if she wanted.
Lunge forward from sitting position onto her knees to reach something.
Feed herself crackers, watermelon slices, Cheerio's,bread, and bananas. She loves real food and just ate mashed potatoes yesterday.
Play with Dayton a bit. She loves her brother and giggles as she watches him play or when he talks to her.
Take a bath in the big tub with shallow water. She kicks and grins and giggles. It is so cute!
Cruise around the house in her walker. Even on the carpet. She can also steer it now.
Pull her hair bows out and suck on them. She also enjoys chewing on her shirts and blankets.
Clap, not on cue or when I want her to, but she can do it!
Chew on her thumbs and fingers. She does not suck on them but she loves to gnaw on them. Maybe this means teeth soon?
Roll around like crazy. This isn't really a new thing but she just does it a lot more now.
Take two naps a day. Short morning nap usually 1 hour and a long afternoon nap usually 2-3 hours.
Eat her own toes, which is so adorable and funny to watch. (not really a new thing but worth mentioning)

Dayton is almost 2 1/2 years old and can...

Run, FAST!!! With his arms bent and flying fast back and forth. So funny to watch!
Eat chicken! He hasn't liked meat until about a month ago. He still wants nothing to do with hamburger but will eat fried chicken, grilled chicken, and chicken nuggets. Yeah!
Grow his two year old molars. They are working their way in.
Take off his own clothes, unless they have buttons.
Put his dirty clothes in the hamper and put his clean clothes in his drawers with Daddy's help.
Open and close any and all doors. Even exterior doors, yikes!
Ride his bike without using the pedals, just pushing with his feet. His legs are still a tad too short to reach.
Eat a sucker or treat with out making a gigantic sticky mess. :)
Climb in and out of his own highchair. He has done this for 3-4 months now but it is so awesome. He even sits at the bar stools to eat now.
Dig in the dirt, hit his ball with his bat, play outside on the swings by himself.
Learn quick! He sing his ABC's all by himself, counts to 10 all by himself, and repeats words to his favorite books. Dr. Seuss books are his favorite!
Sleep in his own bed and go to sleep all by himself, even if a couple nights a week that means crying for 5-10 minutes. He has gotten a TON better! Great job D!
Sing primary songs like Popcorn popping, Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam, I am a child of God, The Chapel Doors, Jesus said love everyone, and a couple fun songs like 5 little monkey's and twinkle twinkle little star.
Use his manners very well! He always says please and thank you and you're welcome. My Grandpa Barker called him a "regular old gentleman."
Help me put the soap in the dishwasher and close the door. That is his job and he knows it!
Get the vacuum out, unwind the cord, plug it in, and vacuum with it after I start it.
Clean up! He even sings the song "Clean up, clean up, everybody everywhere. Clean up, clean up, everybody do your share." He is always happy to help.

Both of the kids! They sure love each other! That makes me happy! And just to note, I took about 50 pictures of the two of them and got a handful with them both looking let alone smiling.

Taken on Father's Day last Sunday!

I am sure I am leaving out a lot of things but that is what I can think of for now. Boy are they sure growing!
