SomE FuN NotEs to ReMemBeR

Dayton now fits in 3 month old clothes. Look how much longer he is. He also weighs about 11 lbs. which is a rough weight since it was done at home. He loved just hanging out in the hotel. It was like he could tell we were on vacation and he was relaxing too! Although Adam looks like he is going to kill over I thought this was a priceless picture of the two of them chillin in bed watching Shrek.
Along our hike down from Delicate Arch Adam and Janae were hiking behind me and Josh. Throughout the whole hike people always commented on the babies being so little and out hiking. I am sure some people we appauled that we had our 6 week old outside in the sun and others were like "heck ya, way to break him in!" So I guess depending on who you asked would depend on if they think we are responsible parents. :) Well, back to my story. So while Adam and Janae were hiking by eachother a lady stopped and asked them, "Oh, are they twins?" They both laughed and Janae responded, "No, just cousins." You can't really tell in the picture below but I could see how she would think that.
1. They are about the same size although Evelyn is 5 weeks older than Dayton.
2. Adam and Janae were hiking by eachother and chatting.
3. We bought them matching sun hats. Not really intentionally but they were the smallest we could find.

Evelyn and Dayton laying on the hotel bed. I couldn't get a shot with both of them stretched out so we could really compare them in length. All I have to say is that Dayton' head is definately bigger. Evelyn is dainty! She is about 5 weeks older than Dayton.

We had a fun time with Josh, Janae and the girls! We are so glad they could come with us. Maybe next time they will stick around for the Jeeping!

(One more post about our activities on Saturday at Arches National Park coming soon.)

Monday in Moab!

I know that these posts are not in order of days so sorry. Just for documentation purposes we went to Moab Friday April 16-Monday April 19.
This is not an awesome picture of Dayton but he was real tired and wasn't holding up his head well. Anyway, take note of the shirt, so fitting for our Monday activity!

You guessed it,
JEEPING!!!!

We rented a Jeep and spent all day Jeeping. We held Dayton most of the time so his head didn't flop around in his carseat. In the picture below Adam was actually driving and holding him. My arm needed a little break and Adam didn't want to stop and wait for it to wake up. :) He was having too much fun! I guess you can say I am not a paranoid mother. Oh, and we were laughing so hard because Dayton slept most of the time while the Jeep was rocking and we were banging around inside. I totally thought he would't be able to sleep. I guess it was like a giant rocking chair.

He also let Dayton drive! Ha ha!We went on three different trails. This is at fallen rock, real creative name right, we did this very first. It is on the Long Canyon trail which was pretty fun!

We also did Shaffer trail which took us all the way to the bottom of the canyon with some switchbacks. It was a bit boring, pretty much just a dirt road with some good incline. We saw many family vehicles on the trail like a Yucon. If that tells you how dull it was. Here are some pretty pictures of the view though.
Last we did Klondike Bluff which was our favorite. We just went up to the dinosaur tracks, which I forgot to take pictures of, and then turned around. It was pretty challenging. There were some major rocks. I did not get any pictures of us doing this trail, I guess you can say I felt safer in the Jeep. Too bad because we did some crazy stuff.
Just to remember:
Dayton pooped three times on while Jeeping. And once more while we were returning the Jeep. The kid has never pooped that much in one day or in two days. Wow! Maybe it was the heat?

WE LOVE SWIMMING!

In the early evenings after long days of hiking we would jump in the pool. It felt so nice! Dayton, surprisingly loved the water. He is only 6 weeks old and we got him in the pool. He kicked his legs and even grinned about it. Too bad it's hard to get pictures of a smiling baby in the water. We did get lots of cute shots though. He loved just sitting in the water and looking around. We are glad he likes water, Adam is especially thrilled!

Canyonlands!

We went to Canyonlands on Sunday morning before Josh, Janae and the girls went home. The Grand View point!
Angie, Adam, Dayton, Josh, Ainslie, Janae, and Evelyn at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands!

Check out the awesome view through the arch! Wow!

Adam was adventurous and climbed up on the arch with Dayton.

April Projects and Pictures

This picture was taken last Sunday after Evelyn's blessing. I thought it is a cute picture of my two boys in their Sunday clothes. You can tell that Dayton sure loves his Daddy! Everytime he comes home and Dayton hears his voice he gets excited.

I started a new paint project because I like to keep busy and I thought I could do this before I went back to school. This is a before picture of our big family room in the basement. I will have you know though that I painted that whole room by myself, two coats and along the baseboards, in one day. Booya!
And After:

Our friends Brady and Brittney Herd finally made it over to see Dayton about a week ago. Britt sure loved holding him. Brady did too but I didn't get a picture of him. We are excited for them to go to New Mexico this summer so Brady can intern there doing engineering work. Good luck guys!

Adam has worked late hours this week only since today is the tax deadline. It'll be nice because he will get paid time and half but Dayton and I really miss him too. So tomorrow we are leaving to Moab for a family vacation together. I will post about it when we get back.

Feelin Good!

I just had to post about my big weight accomplishment. I had a baby a month ago and only have 12 lbs to go until my starting weight. I can fit into 2 pairs of my pre pregnancy pants and 1 pair of shorts. I have one pant size to loose utill I can fit into all of my normal pants.

Although I gained way more weight than I wanted to during pregnancy it was worth it. Now I am just going to work extra hard to get down to my starting weight and hopefully about 5 lbs. less than my starting weight before the end of the summer. My Mom has got me excited about weight watchers, she has lost 20 lbs doing it. So I am hoping that by being more careful about what I eat and staying active that I can get to where I want to be.

I'll be sure to post when I am back to my starting weight. Hopefully it's in the next couple of months. :)

Happy Easter and Welcome Spring!

Happy Easter Day! We had a small easter celebration with our easter bunny treats this afternoon. It's funny that as you get older it's just not as exciting to get into your basket and treats. So it was about 4:00pm until we got to our easter stuff. We each got new sandals, as we do every year, and lots of candy! Pictures are below.

Our easter was nice! We slept in, watched conference, had Aunt Annette over plus my family for lunch and visited, then listened to the last session of conference as Dad, Joe, Nate, and Adam moved the shed out back. The people that lived here before us must have tried to take it with them because ever since we have lived here it has been half on and half off the cement pad. Anyway, it was a huge project to get that HEAVY thing moved. It took all four boys and a little bit of Mom's and me pushing too. They used lodge poles under it to roll it. Good thinking! Adam is so so so so so so so glad (I don't think there were enough so's) that it is usable now. In fact he is busy moving all of his tools out there now. Thanks Dad, Joe and Nate!
We are loving the warm-ish weather and being able to work in the yard. Two weeks ago we had one of Adam's priests come and power rake our lawn with his mower since all the leaves from over 15 trees in our yard were left under the snow all winter. Our yard had lots of mice tunnels and matted down rotting leaves. Yuck! The power rake was a great idea, just look at the picture, the yard looks so much better now. Thank you Zak Niewman!

On a sad note my Aunt Martha who lives in California has pancreatic cancer that has spread all over her whole body. She has been on chemo for about 6 months now but she is just getting worse and worse. Her son called yesterday to say that the doctors say she has about 3 more days to live. They have stopped all treatment but morphine. She is a wonderful lady, cheerful and kind. She is only about 64 years old and the oldest sibling on my Dad's side. Anyway, we are praying that she will go quickly and not suffer too much longer. I will always remember her bright red and pink lipstick and fluffy red hair. We are thinking of Martha and her family.
