Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! I love Halloween at my house growing up it was always a huge celebration and still is. My brothers haunt the front yard while we wait for about 200 trick or treaters to come a knocking! I love seeing all the neighborhood kids in their costumes. Today at school I also got to see my students in their costumes which was a blast. Adam also dressed up for work! We wish you all a HAPPY HAUNTING tonight! (Below are some of my favorite costumes we saw! Especially Nacho Libre!)

Utah State and Fresno State!

This Saturday we went to the USU football game against Fresno State. Honestly it was a good game. The aggies were ahead 28 to 27 with 2 second left on the clock when Fresno State went for 58 yard field goal, they had no chance of making it we thought, but just our luck they made it and the final score was 28 to 30. We were all amazed that with 2 seconds left they make that field goal and we were disappointed, our aggies deserved to win that one it was a good a game. We all got a little sun too it was beautiful out! We went with our friends Clint and Kaitlan and Paul and Marico. We were glad we went to the game it was a good way to spend the a Saturday afternoon.

Before and After the cut!

I almost forgot to post before and after pictures of my hair cutting skills. They are getting better. This is now the fourth time I have cut Adam's hair and it is much better than the first time. Oh and please don't mind the pink robe Adam wears it sometimes cause mine is softer than his. I know I agree with you, any man who can wear pink is a stud!

The Note

So I sent Adam on his lunch break to buy me some garments. I wrote him a note that said how many pairs, what kind, and what size to get with a simply thank you at the end. When Adam went in he just handed the note to the lady at the desk and said, "Can you please help me find these?" Of course the little lady was more than happy to help. She said to him, "This note is just so cute, it works." He said the entire time she was helping him she couldn't stop talking about the note I wrote, she must have thought it was the best thing yet. Anyway then she asked Adam, "So how do you know this cute young lady?" He was a little surprised by the question and then simple held up his left hand and said, "She is my wife." When he got home and told me this story I laughed. Who do you think she thought he was buying underware for his girlfriend, aquiantence, or sister. I gues it could have been for his mom. Oh and she even put the note in the bag that Adam brought home. Anyway I smiled about that!

Poop?!

Today while I was working on our family album I came across this funny video that was taken last December on our honeymoon. I think you will get a good laugh. This happened when I was simply walking down the street in Mexico. Ya, I know it's a little upsetting but funny too! If you feel the need to watch this multiple times just for a chuckle I promise I won't be hurt. Oh now I am remembering how nice and warm it was in Mexico and I'm missing it!

My Practicum! It's time for a change!

Adam and I have been busy as usual with school and all other such things! This next week my business will finally slow down because I will start my level 3 practicum at Cache Valley Learning Center, a private school, in a 2nd and 3rd grade mixed class. This means no more classes for 10 hours straight I will just be in the school 8-3:30 and then work on my portfolio afterward. Yes, I will be teaching lessons but only about once a week. So hopefully this will be a nice change and give me some time to do what I really love which is to be with the kids. Yeah!
Oh and I am finally starting to feel better. Yeah! I am not completely well but much better than last week.

Our Halloween Celebration!

It all began with Mama Sue's yummy wassil! Then cinnamon crumb cake while carving pumpkins! This past Saturday night turned into a fun little Halloween celebration.

Wassil Recipe:
1 gallon of apple cider
4-5 sticks of cinnamon (I broke mine in half)
1-2 tsp. of whole cloves
2-3 whole oranges, sliced with the rine

Bring to a boil in big pot with a lid. The longer you boil it the more flavor it has. So the time is up to you. I boiled it for about an hour and a half. Continually stirring it! Then you can add more oranges or cloves as you desire.

These are the pumpkins before and after! Aren't we quite the pumpkin artists?

I'm a Lucky Wife!

So today I was just laying at my apartment, resting of course, cause I'm still sick thinking how time goes by so quickly. It has been a year and almost one month since Adam proposed to me. Soon it will be our one year anniversary. I am so lucky to have a wonderful husband like Adam. He is patient with me and still has never left the house without giving me a kiss and saying I love you! He is so busy but seems to always make time for me. I love you sweetheart!
These are just some pictures of our proposal day. They are also in order.

This is before he proposed on the drive up to the top of the mountain. I still had no idea what he was up to at this point.

These last two were after the proposal. I am extactic as you can tell! And yes the colors were that beautiful in the canyon. He picked a nice spot to pop the question!

The background didn't make it until Halloween. I know I'm bad my mom says I'm a busy body, always having to do something and it's true especially when I'm sick and just have to lay around coughing like mad. So I thought our blog needed more bright cherry color.

Happy Birthday to JARED 18!!!

Just wishing Jared my little brother a happy birthday. We love you bud! Jared is now 18 which is a weird thought to me. He grew up so fast but I guess that means I grew up fast too! Anyway Jared is a dating machine and loves lacrosse, wrestling, weight training, and playing the trumpet. We are glad that he is part of our family. Adam especially likes to wrestle with him and it's sad to say Jared usually wins. I guess he would seeing as how Jared is 195 lbs and Adam is 160 lbs.

Also for the past three days I have been sick as a dog! I can't seem to get better and although I desperately need sleep I can' sleep at night. Oh I am so sick of being sick! I have things to do and places to be and it's annoying. I have a sore throat, cough, ear aches, head aches, and a fever on and off. The worst part is the doctor said, "Yup you have a virus. Go home and rest, eat well, stay hydrated, and use a humidifier at night so you can sleep better." I think my condition is much worse than go home and rest etc. But I guess it's true you can't do anything for a virus. Meanwhile my dishing are piling up as is the homework! Grrrr! Oh the joys of busy college life, right?

The Surprises of October

I woke up Saturday morning to look out my window and see snow. I couldn't believe it! I have lived in Logan for 7 years now but I do not ever remembering it snowing this much in the first of October. Usually it at least waits until the end of October, typically the week of Halloween. So I braved the cold and took a video. (AND ONCE AGAIN MY VIDEO WILL NOT UPLOAD, SORRY, I WILL TRY AGAIN LATER)

Also Adam is such a handyman. Since now we are turning on the heat we recently discovered that our furnance was blowing cold air. :) I thought to myself, "Gee I wish I knew it blew cold air in the summer!" So instead of telling our landlords about the problem and freezing for a week before they fixed it Adam opened up the furnace himself. It was a simple fix, light the pilot light, or at least we thought it was. Adam lite it and within a minute it was still blowing cold air. He went in again and decided that the pilot light was going out because the furnace was so dirty so he spent about 20 minutes vacuuming out the furnace. What a sweet husband! Then he lite the pilot and now we have a warm apartment. Yeah!

Something old and Something new!

Something Old and Something New! I found this entertainment center on ksl.com for free! It was here in Logan and so we picked it up! I like it much better than the older one we used to have because it is more stable and has more room. So Yeah for free stuff!
I need one suggestion though, see the space behind the TV? What should I do to cover it up? Install a shelf, put the TV on a sturdy decorative box with seasonal fabric drapped over it? Help me all you fellow creative people?

Fun Fruity Fall Treat!

It's a recipe on our blog! I know it's a miracle. I thought I would just share this yummy fall colored invention I created with you. It's nutritious, well for the most part, yummy, light, and red and orange. Could it get any better?

Fruity Fall Treat:
8 oz. Light cool whip or whip cream
8 oz. of peach or raspberry yogurt (not both)
2 cups of frozen raspberries or fresh
2 cups of frozen peaches or fresh

Mix together and refridgerate.

We both love this treat. I used frozen raspberries and fresh peaches, just whatever you can get your hands on works. Enjoy!

And the decorations are finally up!

I decorated!!!! This little ghost decoration was actually made by my grandpa Ronald. My grandma and grandpa Barker love to spend their time pouring ceramics, firing them in the kiln, sanding them smooth, and hand painting every one. Every ceramic I have from them I know was made with love! This is just one of the many. Adam and I actually were given an entire nativity last Christmas which is absolutely beautiful. I will make sure to post pics of it! I love you Grandma and Grandpa!

This Thanksgiving thing I made! Aren't you so proud! I am! Anyway I know it's not Thanksgiving but I had to put it out since it is Fallish! Plus I am still working on gathering decorations so my autumn stuff is minimal. I just happen to love this glass thing though!

And then I bought fall leaves to put on the top! I think overall it turned out pretty dang fallish! Yeah for homey decor!
And yes I know in this picture I don't have candles on the candle holders. I have yet to find the right shade of green. Call me picky but it's true.

Vote to Help!

I am asking everyone who clicks on my blog and enjoys the beautiful faces that are on it to help me out! On the right side of my blog there is a link to Chelsea Brown's pics. On her blog she is holding a little contest for a free photography session. Which ever child has the most votes by October 10th wins! The Stokes family is a darling family in our ward who have a beautiful girl MaKenna. They submitted her picture so they could get free pics. Since they recently had Steve down for 6 weeks with staph infection and Christa is expecting again there is little money for pics of their beautiful girl. :( So it'd be your good act of the day if you click on this link and submit your vote. Also have you roommates, friends, family, children, and dogs vote as well.
Thank you! Hopefull she is the winner and Mom and Dad can have beautiful pictures of MaKenna to keep forever.

3 Amazing Brothers in Marching Band!

IT'S OCTOBER AND IT'S BAND COMPETITION SEASON!!!!

Here in Logan the Sky View Marching Band is well known. Usually over 120 students make up the band and they participate in many competitions all over the state. Last year they went to Bands of America/ BOA and took 10th place out of I think one hundred bands. This year they were not going to go to BOA because it is a $2500 just for the entry fee not to mention room and board, travel, and feeding all those teenage kids. But it ends up that the director of BOA called and asked Sky View's band director to go and that he would pay their way. So they are going!

This year the Sky View Marching Band show is Jekyl and Hyde. The color guard uniforms represent this by being black on one side and white on the other. The music is awesome and I am proud of my brothers for pushing through another season of daily long practices in the heat. The show consists of 3 pieces the opener, the ballad, and the closer. This movie clip is of my brother Jared's solo and Joseph's drum break. This will give you a slight idea of how hard Marching Band really is. I mean think about it, you try to line 120 kids up in a perfectly straight line, in 8 counts, with horns in their mouths, chins looking up, and a feather on their heads. It's not easy!

Anyway this is just a short clip of what my brothers spend their life doing and what I used to spend my life doing. I was rifle and guard captain for 2 years. I also was a competitive dancer in high school so I coreographed many routines and even wrote this years color guard parade routine. yeah for dancers! I still enjoy going to most of the performances and some of the competitions. I often find myself marking time through the entire show.
