I'm a Big Boy....sometimes

For the past two weeks or so with no prompting Dayton has asked to sit on the potty. So, I have been letting him do it since he is excited about it I figured, why rain on his parade? Well, the other day he told me he needed to go potty, took his own diaper off, ran to the bathroom and peed right next to the toilet. He almost made it!

Today however he really went in the potty, TWICE! I danced, cheered, hugged, praised, and loved him when it happened. He also got a treat which he was super thrilled about. He asked to go potty both times and came to me with a bare bum too. This kid is stinking smart I tell you! He barely turned two so I was going to wait until two and a half to really "try" potty training him but it seems he may just be potty training himself.

On that note I do have to say that I am not really pushing him to go potty or asking him through out the day. I'm being chill about it simply to give him a bit more time, at least until we move in a month. I don't want him to regress so I don't want to train him too early.

So without further adu....

Toddler bum! :) Oh how I love baby bums, I could just pinch those cute cheeks. After all I am his Mother.

4 months old

Rachel can...
Stand up against things when put there.
Sit up for about 30 seconds.
Get around slowly in her walker.
Eat rice cereal.
Roll onto her side and just today all the way over onto her tummy.
Watch Dayton play and run around.
Focus on everything and watch TV.
Smile, giggle, and coo at people.
Play with her tongue.
Sleep 6 hours straight at night consistently, sometimes 7 hours. Then she eats and goes back to sleep.
Hold onto toys and my hair. She can grab at things too.

Here are many photos taken recently of our girly girl!

A Special Request

Dayton is so sweet! I usually sit by him before bed and sing him primary songs. I've done this for as long as I can remember. I don't really know if he appreciates it but non the less almost every night I sing. I think he can learn the gospel principles through the songs. Last night I was singing to him and he made a request, much to my surprise. He said, "momma, Jesus sunbeam, pweese!" I about cried, he has been listening! So I sang Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam and he sang almost half of the words along with me. It was one of those much needed, sweet moments with him.

Also, Dayton has officially learned how to pull down his own pants and diaper. He also asks to sit on the potty often and although he doesn't go potty in it he thinks it is fun and can climb on and off by himself. Potty training is coming this summer, I hope!

We just love Dayton and the joy he is to our family! He is a tender spirit and full of so much energy. He constantly wants to help and be independent. He is a terrific two year old!

Lisa's baby shower

Here is Lisa with the quilt my Mom made her baby girl! Isn't it beautiful? My Mom spends hours piecing and quilting these special quilts for all the grand kids.

A four generation picture of girls. My Grandma Nola, Mom (Trudy), Me, and Rachel Trudy (3 1/2 months old) It was special that I got this shot!

Rachel was being so cute and alert with Johna and Annette. They both loved her!

Me, Mom and Lisa at the shower. It really was a good turnout. Thanks for all the love and support everyone!

Sisters! Lisa is 34 weeks in this picture. Doesn't her belly look so cute? And might I add small compared to me? I'm jealous because I look like an elephant when I deliver.

Dollar store toy

A couple days ago we went to Dollar Tree to get some last minute items for Lisa's baby shower. I told Dayton he could pick one toy. Afterall it is unreasonable and kind of mean in my mind to take a 2 year old into a store full of cheap, cool, new toys and not let him get one. So I let D run o the toy section as I quickly grabbed the shower stuff. When I got back to the toys to get him he had two butterfly nets and a ball in one. He looked right at me and very excitedly said " look mama, wa-cross!" Wow, he learned that from Jared observant kid! I said, "Yes Dayton you are right you found lacrosse!" I tried to explain to him that he could only get 1 toy and he kept saying "yes." In his mind lacrosse was one toy. Oh who cares I thought, he was creative and got that put together all by himself, he is proud, and very excited about it too so he can keep all 3 toys. And the whole drive to my Mom's he said " I wanna play wa-cross with jared. Momma, i wanna play wa-cross with jared." So thats what he got to do. :) He is a good boy!

So long, farewell...

Goodbye to our long and faithful friend, the green put put! This tercel really has been a good car and we have loved driving it to the ground. It got 40 miles to the gallon, which we enjoyed even more. Yesterday we sold it for a whopping $450 because it needs a new crank shaft. The man who bought it is a mechanic and can fix it himself. It would have cost us a minimum of $1500 to fix it and the car doesn't even blue book at that so we parted ways. You have been good to us little Toyota! Now, we are a one car family.

My cute kids

All these pictures were taken today. I just wanted to document my cute kids. Yes, D got into the bags and was laying in them with a grin when I found him. Funny boy! Rachel is so good at tummy time and today was licking the rubber elephant, ha ha! Check out her "ew" face after trying it.

Twinners

Sophie Day, my cousin James' daughter, gets to play with us all day four times a week for the next month. Her Mom is expecting and gets super sick so I'm helping them out. She is a doll and only 3 months younger than Dayton. They have so much fun together and rarely fight over toys when playing, it's nice. They love to copy each other and follow each other around. They really are cute with each other and it makes it nice for me so I can actually get some house things done during the day because they entertain each other. Just look at these pictures taken today. It's been fun and I have to say I feel like I could mother twins after today. :)

Having a fun 2 year old means...

This...

This...

This...

And this...

All I can do is smile!

Sitting up

Rach is 3.5 months old and can sit up for about a minute now. She is very strong! I think in a couple week she will be able to sit up for long periods of time. What a sweet baby she is! She an also stand up against things. She obviously doesn't pull herself up but can balance and stand there for a good 5 minutes and then she is tired. Look at these darling pictures of her watching Dayton play on his train table and look at Dayton trying to share a car with her. My kids are the best!
