Things Dayton can do...

He can say a few words now. In this picture he was saying, "Ma ma ma ma ma!" over and over that is why I posted this one. He also says, "Dada, "baa" for ball, "hhh" for hi, and the other day he tried grandpa and grandma when I was working with him "g (and then his voice went up) ma." I am working with him on: uh-oh, grandpa and grandma, book, more, and bottle.

He can eat a Popsicle all by himself. Hey, I didn't say he could eat it neatly. He loves Popsicles and "ice pops" or ice cubes on a stick. Great for teething kids!

He can stand up in the bath tub and walk. Crazy skill! He also loves to feel the bottom of the tub because it is textured. Notice the bath bird in his mouth, he always has something in it.

He can grow teeth and "half" bite you. He has the two front bottom teeth and now the two top teeth on the side of the front. He looks funny because he only has two on bottom and the two side teeth on the top.

He can clap. He has been able to do this for about two months now but now he does it when he knows he did something cool like threw a ball without me clapping. He is smart!

He can walk, like a pro, even in his shoes, outside, on the grass, on the gravel, on the sidewalk.

He can grab his tongue and he constantly has his fingers or something in his mouth because he is teething.

He can make this face (below) and he always does it!

It constantly amazes me how much he is growing physically and mentally. I can't believe in a month and a week my baby will be 1!!!! Where has the time gone? Dayton is such a bright boy and enjoyable. I will be posting about his new found love of balls soon. One last thing to talk about. This last Friday I was sick and so Adam took Dayton to the young men priest overnighter with him. They went up to a cabin in Logan canyon. Adam said Dayton loved riding up there with 5 big boys in the truck with him. He said he didn't cry once, which is rare for Dayton he hates the car. Once they got there Adam said he played and stayed awake from 6pm-midnight with the boys. Adam said he was so surprised at how well he did since obviously midnight is WAY past his bedtime. They did not sleep over they came home at midnight when the bishop got up there but it was fun for both of them. Dayton had a blast with Dad and the young men! He is such a social bug but on top of that I think he is just overall pretty easy going. Thanks hunny for taking him and helping me out because I was really under the weather. Love you both!

Fam-damily

I just had to post this picture. I thought it was a cute picture of me and Adam. This was taken on Papa Chandler's birthday in November 2010. It was when we were on our way back from the firm's retreat to Park City! Dayton stayed with my Mom and Dad so that is why he isn't in the picture.

I got thinking today that I really am a lucky woman to have such a great family! Not just Adam and Dayton but my parents and brothers and my in-laws too. They are always so willing to help. For example, just last week I called my Mom, the day of our young womens basketball game, and asked her to tend Dayton so I could coach the game. Adam was going to be working later so he couldn't take him and if you remember Dayton was not feeling well either. What did she say? "Of course, I'll send Joe out to get him."

Just last night I texted Sue to see if she was headed to Provo anytime soon,I figured she might go down for work or something. I asked if she wouldn't mind picking up some preschool chairs I saw on ksl. She responded so quick and said, "I can go get them tomorrow morning." I did not expect her to say that, in fact I didn't even expect her to make a special trip just for chairs. What a giving woman. AND a couple weeks ago when we went to my Uncle's funeral she drove all the way up to tend Dayton for two days with only one day notice. AND it gets better, she came up a week later took us to dinner and brought 4 boxes, not 1 box but 4 boxes of diapers! Which was a lifesaver as this transition month between my salary check leaving and Adam's coming is tight. She truly is an inspired woman. It sure seems like she always knows when we need a visit, or the month our budget is tight she bring us free stuff, or when I need someone to talk to she always listens. It is no wonder my husband turned out so great! I get tears in my eyes when I think about all she has done for us just this past month and I'm not sure she realizes what a HUGE comfort and blessing she has been for me especially. I love you Sue!

Sick

Well I guess all the puke at our house this last week really was a bug because now I have it. I spent all day yesterday and today curled up in a ball (when I wasn't chasing, holding, rocking, or feeding Dayton) because my tummy hurt so bad. I never threw up but I was in pain. Last night I had a fever. I wore pajamas, had an extra thick blanket on the bed and I was still shivering. I had other symptoms that I will spare you. :)

Adam is such a great husband! I love him! He left work during lunch to buy me medicine, sprite, and Popsicles. Then he drove all the way home, out to Mendon, for me. Then tonight the priest's had a camp out in a cabin and I asked if he could just go tonight and not stay over so he could help me with Dayton. Well, not only is he doing that but he took Dayton with him. Dayton sure loves his Dad. When he got put in the truck with all the "big boys" he was grinning ear to ear. He was probably thinking, "Yeah, I don't have to stay inside with Mommy, she is no fun!" Well if he was thinking that, it sure is true for today.

It is now 10:30pm and after watching chick flicks, finally eating some real food, painting my fingers and toes, I think I am going to take a bubble bath in our jetted tub and head to bed. I am feeling much better. THANK YOU ADAM!!!

Happy Birthday to my late Grandpa Day

Today is my Grandpa Day's birthday. He passed away about ten years ago. I don't know exactly how long it has been but I know I was around 12 years old so that is my guess. I loved visiting my Grandpa Day. He always gave us a run for our money. Sometimes his conversation made us roll our eyes, sometimes it made us smile, sometimes it make us laugh, sometimes it made us cry, and many times it made my testimony grow. Like when he said stuff like, "God is the creator of life therefore to love life is to love God."

Just a few memories I have of Grandpa.

1. He always sat in his big, comfy, reclining chair.
2. When we asked he would fold his handkercheif into a mouse and put it on his arm and make it move or come alive. I remember all of us, me and my siblings, loving this.
3. He would put you over his lap and play "Rat a tat tat upon your back how many fingers do I hold up?" Then we would have to guess how many fingers he had up. It was a hard game.
4. He loved music and would often whistle.
5. He always left food out on the counter, this reminds me of my Dad.
6. He used a cane to walk and would always tease us with it by hitting our bum as we walked by.
7. He always had icecream and tomatoes.
8. He loved to write and tell stories.
9. Grandpa wore a hat out in the yard, it was straw I think, and it was sweaty.
10. Grandpa always smelled old.
11. He loved my Grandma who passed away about 5 years before him. He used to always tell us when Evelyn died he asked the Lord not to leave him on earth alone for too long.
12. His arms were always dry and had splotches all over them.
13. He wore big glasses.
14. Sometimes he did inappropriate things when company was around like cutting his toe nails with garden clippers. Gross!
15. He would call out during church if he had a question. I guess his teacher never reinforced raising his hand. Yes, even in sacrament meeting.
16. He wrote me a poem on my birthday about me. I think he tried to do this for all his kids and grandkids.
17. Every morning, he never missed, he watched The Price is Right.
18. He always had cashews and we would sneak them as kids.
19.Grandpa loved to read. I can't remember if he read novels but I know he read lots of church books.
20. Most of all I remember that Grandpa loved me!

Sure miss you Grandpa but I know you are happy in heaven with both of your sweethearts!

Valentine Treats

Valentine's Day is coming up in a couple of weeks so I thought I would get in the spirit by making a treat today. In the afternoon I watch a 6 year old girl named Liya and she helped me. We made a great team, she would put the candy heart in and I would cover it in chocolate. It was so much fun! I can't wait until Dayton is old enough to help me with fun stuff like this. Oh, and of course they were yummy! Don't worry Adam we saved you some. :)

And...

Just for the record it's now Saturday night and puke AGAIN. I also teach relief society tomorrow and it'll be just my luck that I will show up covered in and/or smelling like puke. :) It's gotta be a stomach bug. Till next time, wish me luck.

P.S. 2 puppies have been picked up and the owners for the other 2 are coming next week. Wahoo!

I'm having one of those motherly weeks

All you mothers out there know what I mean. Sunday night Dayton woke up crying after a long process of putting him to sleep. He was not happy and super whiny, I thought it was teething. I usually let him cry for 30 minutes or more before I go into get him because I want him to learn to comfort himself back to sleep with out me. He usually does pretty well, in fact he sleeps through the night 8:30-5:30 and then wakes for a bottle and will go back to sleep til 7:30 usually. So back to Sunday night, after about 15 minutes of screaming, yes, screaming he started to gag and cough. In my experience in the past when I hear this I almost always go into his room to find a crib, baby, bedding, and sometimes the carpet soaked in puke. So when I heard the coughing and gagging I ran in his room to stick his binki in his mouth and calm him down before he yacked. Well, I was there in perfect time as soon as I picked him up he threw up all over. And, I am not talking a little spit up here, oh no, this was puke. Chunks of peaches from 3:00 that day, rice cereal and the 6 oz bottle I give him before bed. SICK! At this point I hollar for Adam to come, "Dayton threw up, ALL OVER, come help, NOW!!!" My sweet husband came and cleaned the carpet and changed the sheets while I gave Dayton a bath and stripped my yacked on clothes off. I finally got him calmed down and rocked him back to sleep. So around 11:00 that night I finally climbed into bed. Ahhh!
Well, as most of you ladies who are Mom's know, I was sorely mistaken. Dayton was up about every hour that night. The only thing I could think of was his tummy hurt so I just cuddled him and held him. The meant no sleep for me. After making it through Sunday night and onto Monday I was thinking good thoughts. Dayton was acting fine. Well, little did I know that the rest of THIS week would consist of a lot of tears, constant whining, and lots of "Mommy hold me" yanks and cries. It is now Thursday and every day this week has been about the same, minus the throw up. Yes, it's true,

I AM HAVING ONE OF THOSE MOTHERLY WEEKS.

And,
in the very same moment,
loving every second,
well maybe not every second,
but this is part of being a Mom,
this is what I signed up for,
and...
although it is challenging and draining,
I wouldn't want to be with anyone else,
or to be doing anything different.

Fish Stand

New stand was so worth $30 and is now in our front room. Not only does it look so much better but Dayton does not stand up against it and bang on it which shakes the fish. He also does not put the fish food, net, etc. in his mouth. Yeah! I am a happy fish owner now!

Old Stand is now by the back door being used for this...

Chandler Family Sunday dinner

The Chandler family came up to our house yesterday for our monthly get together. It was so fun! We had taco soup with tortilla scoops and a yummy yellow cake with raspberries on top thanks to Janae. Evelyn turns one in about a week so we even put a candle in a piece for her and sang Happy Birthday. I can't believe it has been one year! We also played a game called Hit or Miss which Mama Sue beat us all at. What a smart Mama she is! While everyone was here I got these priceless pictures. You can tell that Grandma Sue loves her grandkids. It was sure fun, as always, to get together. We love you guys!

Dayton and Ainslie being so cute together!

Uncle Earl's Funeral

Today was Uncle Earl's funeral in Nampa Idaho. We drove about 5 hours to Idaho last night with my family and stayed in a hotel. Mama Sue stayed at our house and tended Dayton. THANK YOU SUE!!!

Earl was in his early 60's and died of cancer just like his Mother at age 45ish, Brother at age 55ish, and his sister Martha who died last April in her early 60's. Yes, it is a genetic gene that my Dad's 5 older siblings (from their birth mother Lillie Bhueler) all have. After Lillie died and left five young children my Grandpa, Lawrence Day, married my Grandma, Evelyn Appolonie Day, and they had three children together the youngest is Dad or Craig. The funeral was nice and although it was sad I think we are all okay with Earl's passing because we know that he was in so much pain and battled cancer since age 14 and especially has fought hard for the past two years. Kathy, his wife, kept saying that she wasn't even sad she just felt at peace. I am grateful that she is feeling such peace. Dad got to dedicate the grave and it was very touching. Dad sure loved Earl! He told us many stories about Earl playing with Dad, Bruce, and Annette while they were little. He also remember's him teaching them German. What a nice big brother Earl was. Below is just a picture of Dad getting ready to dedicate the grave site. It was a nice funeral and Earl's family had/has great support.

Easily entertained...

Dayton played with a bowl and a spoon for an hour straight last night! I guess that is his new favorite toy. I find it interesting that the best toys really aren't toys at all. He just likes to use/hold/carry anything that he see's me or Adam using. Dayton you are a funny boy!

Priceless!

I LOVE BEING A MOM! I just couldn't resist posting some of the best pictures I caught in the past couple of days. I sure love my boy!

You are looking at...

the new young women's assistant sports coach. Yup! If you know me go ahead and laugh now. I am not exactly the most athletic person. In my defense I know the rules of basketball and I played with my family a lot growing up. I also played when I was in young womens. The good thing is that I am not doing this all by myself. We have a big young womens so they called two of us and boy am I grateful I am not the head sports coach. Allison (the girl who rents our basement) is the sports coach and she is athletic. She currently coaches volleyball is her spare time. So I am mostly going to be there to support, get the girls excited about it, and have fun with the young women. I mean if you think about it what young womens basketball team has amazing skill? Not any team that I know of or played against when I was in young womens. It is just for fun! Well our first game is this Saturday and I won't be there because my uncle Earl died last week and it is his funeral but I will sure be there for every game after this one. Yeah! :)

New Years Day!

I know I am a little behind but that's ok. On New Years Day we took Dayton to the soft play at the Fun Park. Kids 18 months and younger are free so that was a killer deal! He played there for about an hour before he was totally done. I was surprised he lasted that long, honestly. He loved crawling in the jungle gym and watching all the other kids that were there. The dark tunnels scared him a bit and I still don't think he is quiet sure about slides. After the soft play Adam let him sit on his lap and pretend to play a driving race car game. Dayton loved this!

Hats off to you in 2011

Lately he loves putting things on his head, for short periods of time before it isn't fun anymore.
What more can I say?
He is my son and I love him!

Rockin Rhythm

About a week ago we were driving in the car listening to Christmas music. When we looked back at Dayton we saw him dancing. He has great rhythm and he loves music. He is his mother's child. I love music and I think I have pretty good rhythm too. It was just so priceless to see him in the backseat just bouncing his legs. :) Check out the video.

10 month old toddler!

I know what your thinking, 10 months is not a toddler, I know. However, check out this kiddo! He is walking, talking, and has killer fine motor skills. Many people at the grocery store etc. ask if he is one year old. I am telling you Dayton has just grown right up! He is 10 months old today and I took these pictures of him today. I love him so much! He is still a happy boy, has two bottom teeth, eats more table food than baby food, is weened, loves books, loves other kids and people, loves to carry things around the house and thinks he is so big doing it, and his two favorite things are cherrios and his Mom.

Four little puppies sitting in a tree...

well in a dog house really. :) The pups are getting big. We have one male already called for so we have one male left and two females. If anyone wants one or know someone who does let us know. They are on ksl for $70 a piece but we will really take about any amount. We actually think they are pretty cute but there is NO WAY we are keeping them. So if they are not taken by Feb. 1st they will got to the humane society.

Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! 2011 will bring many new experiences, I think. In our case we are hoping it will hold less flooding and more peace and nothingness. :)
