Turns out...

The dog that is super nice, good with kids, calm, and trained is an escape artist. He climbed the chain link fence on the kennel and pushed his way through our vinyl fence that surrounds the back yard. We can't keep him. Adam took him back to the Humane Society today. We are sad but we hope he can find a better home, like a farm, where he will have lots of room to run. We didn't have the heart to keep him chained up all the time, which was the only solution other than having him live in the garage which just wasn't going to happen. Poor Taya, hopefully she will get over the loneliness and adjust soon.

Welcome doggy

Today we adopted this guy from the humane society. Still working on a name. Hopefully after the initial hard day with Taya they will be friends. We are hoping a companion for her will mean less howling all day and night and more sleep for us. He is a whopping 94 pound, male malamute! 

Goodbye Tika!

After 15 long years as Adam's dog Tika girl died yesterday. We found her in the morning laying outside her dog house on the ice. Poor thing! Of course she had to go in the middle of winter when it was freezing outside. Adam was so brave and went outside to get rid of his long loved friend. I tried to help him but ended up going inside to comfort Dayton who was VERY upset. Our kids love our dogs! Adam and I also cried. I have to note that I am not a big animal lover either but it was sad. You will be missed Tika!

Dinosaur Day

Today was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Adam had the holiday off and so did I. We decided to get away. Away from the monotonous daily routine, out of the house, and away from all the sick germs that seem to be attracted to our family.

So we stayed in a WAY nice hotel in Draper that Sue gifted us. She is on a rewards system with them and she earns free night stays so she let us use her free night. YEAH!!! Thank you Mama Sue!

We left Sunday around noon. We stopped to visit Grandma Nola and Grandpa Ronald in Roy. We also picked up furniture from them for Lisa. My children love their Great Grandparents!

Then we drove to West Valley to drop off the furniture to Lisa. She was grateful and we were happy to help. The chairs in the picture are from Ronola. They also gave them a blue Lazy Boy recliner and a tv stand. We gave them an armoire. It was nice too, might I add.


Then it was off to the hotel. Rach was so excited she was talking about swimming ALL day! She even showed Grandma Trudy her swim suit, swimming tube, and swim diapers back at the house earlier that morning. I was too busy swimming and keeping my eye on three kids to take pictures so there are not any. However, we swam for about an hour and the kiddos loved it. Except Carter, he cried so Sue held him.

In the morning we drove to Thanksgiving Point and went to the Dino Museum. It was neat! We stayed for about two hours and it was enjoyable for everyone. All the kids were nice, listened, and had fun. Adam loved reading all the information, he loves learning. It is something I admire about him. Bug and Sue came along and that was a HUGE help. Honestly, I don't think we would have tackled it without Grandma with a newborn and two toddlers.

We finished the day with lunch at Chuck A Rama, mmmm! It was my first "cheat day" in a whole month. I still tried to be smart by having a large salad with vinaigrette dressing and TONS of veggies on it with baked chicken to start off. Then I had small portions of other things that are not so healthy like mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, mini cinnamon rolls, two rice cripsies and chocolate cake. I can't remember the last time I had a sweet other than an 80 calorie fruit snack or fresh fruit. It was nice and I am glad I only ate half my cake. I tried not to go hog wild since I have tried SO SO SO hard to loose weight. Sometimes though, you just NEED a cheat day. No pictures again.... the kids rocked at eating and I was pleased.

After lunch we headed home, a 2 hour drive. The kids slept until Brigham City which was awesome! We got home about 5 pm just in time for a little play time, unloading the car, feeding the kids dinner, quiet time and bed.

It was a nice day away! I'm glad we did it!

My Artist

Dayton has turned into quite the little artist lately. He got this doodle pad from Sue for Christmas and really loves it! Just the other day he drew monsters inc all on his own. He did great! You can totally see Mike with one eye and Sully with horns.

He drew lots of other things I didn't get pictures like hearts and balloons. He is creative!

This picture we drew together. I did all the scenery and he added the apples on the tree. Stems and all!
