Halloween

This year we did three shifts of trick or treating.
First at Aunt Susan's work around the office the day before Halloween. Carter got the idea after one floor and started saying "ick a eat." Translation, trick or treat. It was adorable!Rach and D really liked all the decorations especially the Inside Out section. They were cute and had great manners telling everyone thank you. Dayton was being the class clown and said "Chicken Treat" at every station. Each time people laughed and he loved that he was funny!

Second we went on Halloween with Uncle Jared and Aunt Sara came trick or treating with Carter, Rach and I about 5pm-6:30pm. The kids lasted longer than I planned they would. Dad and Dayton stayed home feeling sick. You know kids are legitimately not feeling well when they would rather stay home in bed than trick or treat. 

Last round was just me and Dayton at 7-8:30pm. He was feeling better when I got home from the earlier rounds so I took him. He ran around like speedy Batman. He loved it and was so charming at every door. This boy has a great social personality! 

Here is Rachel as a witch which she was for preschool and trick or treating and then wanted to be Snow White on Halloween. I can't believe how big she is!

Halloween Cookies with Grandma

Grandma Trudy went out of her way to do something extra fun with the kids. Sugar cookies, seriously! That is a lot of work. While I took Dayton to the dentist Rach helped her make them and when we got back the kids got to decorate them. They loved it! They brought them home and have been piecing on them ever since. Aren't Grandma's fun?

First time at the Dentist

Today I had to call for a same day appointment at the dentist after D was up crying all night about his tooth ache. It has been hurting him for awhile and honestly I thought he was being dramatic or that he just was getting molars. After a night of screaming I took him in and SURE ENOUGH, a huge, two huge holes in his teeth. Down to the nerves. OUCH! Poor kid. So we getting them filled Thursday. Just have to make it through two more rough nights. Ibuprofen and tylenol don't seem to help much. All that said, this kid was a total champ at the dentist! They complimented him MANY times. He was very polite and even watched a show on the ceiling. Proud of you buddy!

Orange Day

Rachel in her orange at school for orange day! She looks so big and so cute! Last week she got to go to the pumpkin walk with preschool. She loved it! She loves school too. She is a ray of sunshine in our family! 

Pumpkin Walk with Family

It was our turn to host the Chandler Family dinner this month so we did the pumpkin walk together. It was so FUN! The kids loved it and it was nice weather. Our kids love their cousins and they get along so great it makes me happy! Here are a tons of pictures. I think this event is so creative!

Moab in the Fall

We took off Thursday afternoon and arrived about 8pm that night. It was the best drive yet with the 3 kids. Seriously, Carter only struggled the last hour. 

Friday we hiked Delicate Arch. It was a nice day and we made it up and down in 2 hours. Carter hiked a little at the end but was happily packed the rest of the time. Dayton and Rach hiked like adults! They were awesome! We are so proud of them! We got several compliments from total strangers about how they were impressed how our kids respected the trail, how they liked that we disciplined them (we do time outs which is having to hold mom or dads hand) even while hiking, and what excellent hikers they are at such young ages! One old lady sat by us at the top and leaned over and quietly said to me, "I am going to pay you a great compliment. I see you with three very active, busy, determined children. Might I say you are doing a great job!" For me that was an answer to prayer. 

Adam and I are so so lucky to have our kids even though they wear us out. It was a morning for the books! 

We even saw the petroglyphs on the way down the trail. Our kids liked that since the sign talked about the Ute Indians and they pray for the Ute Indians almost every night. Oh boy, it's hilarious! 

We spent the afternoon at the campground pool and park. Rachel is getting so good at riding her bike and did it in the dirt around camp. She kept saying, "I know I can do it!" We had yummy tin foil dinners and roasted marshmallows together.  

After we headed to walk the town that night. We ran into a magician by coincidence and it was $10 to get in. The kids loved him! He was perfect for kids and allowed lots of volunteers. Both D and Rach got to be his assistant. They were both grinning ear to ear. It was very memorable.

Saturday we hiked the windows and double arch. It's more of a casual walk which was great after our big hike. We also walked around Balance Rock. It was a cool overcast morning.

We headed back to camp for lunch and a nice long nap in the trailer. We spent the a couple hours playing at camp, riding bikes, and digging in the dirt. 

For dinner we tried somewhere new! Milt's Diner! Our first time eating out in a long time. It was great to not have to prep and wash all the dishes. We got it to go and ate at the park. Now that's what I call vacation! No cooking. The burgers were not that great but the shakes sure were! 

After dinner we hit the big sand hill coming past Arches National Park. It was our first time doing it. 

Then it was showers for every sand monster which was nice! A movie in the trailer with mini donuts and milk for bed night snack. 

20 more chicks

We just got 20 more chicks! They should lay come spring. We get about one dozen eggs a day now with 18 hens. We are selling fresh eggs for $2 a dozen and they seriously look like Easter eggs! We have light blue, tan, dark brown, spotted, and white eggs. Adam is a naturL little chicken farmer! It's a good way to fund the feed for his little hobby. Plus, our neighbors love it and so do the kids!
