34 week visit!

We went to Dr. Noorda today and he said the baby is head down. Yeah! That doesn't mean he is coming but it is good news because it'll help me dilate. Other than that things are looking good we go back in two weeks and then every week after that. So we are getting down to the wire. I am just hoping it comes sooner than later, but then doesn't everyone?

Today at school was memorable. I had a student get suspended for a day because he put scissors to a kids neck and said "If you move I will kill you." Wow! All the things kids are exposed to now days. It is sad.

I am excited for Groundhog Day that is on the 2nd. Less than a week away. My family always celebrates it. I know it is weird but it is totally worth it.

My little brother Nate is taking drivers ed. So odd to me that he is old enough. Time sure seems to go by quicker the older you get.

Mom's back is getting better from when she fell off a ladder over a week ago. She wears a brace that she says really helps her. We are two waddler's that is for sure.

Both our computers are getting fixed right now. It's a bummer that they are both down at the same time. Hopefully they will be done by tomorrow and it'll be back to the blogging world again.

Last but not least Josh and Janae had their baby girl, Evelyn, last night. We will be going down to see her this weekend.

Two things keeping me going...

Teaching is such an adventure, especially pregnant. I just have to say there are two things that are keeping me alive at school, one my aide I get for an hour a day and two the Mom's that volunteer in my class. I now have a Mom a day coming. Yeah! I feel really blessed to have both helps!

Everything just hurts now. My belly, back, feet, neck, legs, and even my head. I just feel like I move so slow and I am starting to miss my "old self." I miss feeling light, cheerful, and like my stomach and chest were two different areas; now they just blend together. I know it's grumpy to say but I am just ready to be done.

I'm now 33 weeks and still growing. I just have to keep remembering that I only have 5 more weeks of school until my substitute and 6 1/2 until his actual due date. I am hoping and praying for sometime the last week of February. Oh, it would be so nice.

Adam is still working at Allred Jackson CPA firm. He is keeping busy and will be a lot busier in about a couple of weeks. He is taking this semester off so he can focus on tax season and do a good job at the firm. Plus with a baby coming we felt he had plenty on his plate.

We are still loving our new home and we are STILL working on two paint projects. We are going to try to finish this weekend and then I will post before and after pictures. It's going to look tons better is all I can say.

TOP TEN BABY NEEDS

I was thinking today about all the things I still need to get ready for a baby! All you experienced mothers out there can give me your advice if you have any.

TOP TEN BABY NEEDS

1) Bottles. I don't even know what kind to get. I hear some are better than others but I've also heard that it doesn't matter at all. I have a couple of friends that say just use the ones that will hook up to your breast pump. I don't know. While on the subject what pump is best that is not $200? Oh and formula just for "in a pinch" times. What kind is the best?

2) Changing table. Is this necessary or does it just collect junk?

3) Baby bath tub and bath stuff. My mother says the sink works better than a baby tub but I wonder if a tub would be worth it. I also need to get shampoo, body wash, wash clothes, baby lotion powder etc. All you Moms out there where can I get the best deal on these things?

4) Diapers. I have two packs of diapers so about 80 of them. How long will that last? My wise mothers says to buy a pack a month with my groceries but I haven't since I don't know how fast he will grow. Can I trade them in for another size?

5) Pack in Play. I know this is not a need right when he is born but I know I will use it later when he gets a bit bigger. I have seen many with all these fancy bells and whistles and honestly I just want a normal fold up pack in play. I was thinking to get one on ksl, is that too risky?

6) Baby toys. We just don't have many little baby toys. I have toddler toys but it'll be awhile until we get to those. Where is the best place to get some of toys? I want toys that will be educational and stimulate his mind but not pricey ones. After all, the kid is just going to drool all over them, right?

7) Crib sheets. We only have one set and I need at least one more. Where do I find them?

8) Little randon things like the blue thing to suck out his buggers, nail clippers, binkies, socks etc. Should I just wait until I need one of these things to buy them or are these a must?

9) Soothing baby music. I will be playing music for him to sleep to at night. Other than primary songs any good suggestions? Should I just burn some lullabies on a CD?

10) Clothes for 6 months and up. I was thinking that I should buy them now since it will be fall when he is 6 months. Plus then I could get good deals on winter stuff since it'll be going out of season. Will it pay off to plan ahead like this or am I worrying too much?

I don't know how much farther my belly can stretch so I'm hoping the last picture I post is 37 weeks, which is still full term.

I just have to tell this story. The other night Adam was rubbing my belly, since it hurts, and he asked while rubbing a spot I can no longer see "Does this hurt?" I said, "no, why?" "Oh, because you are getting stretch marks." I just started to cry! I know such a a pregnant lady thing to do huh? It's true too I looked in the mirror and although they are not very visable they are coming in. Needless to say I am putting lotion on my belly every night. Who knows if it helps but it's all part of being a Mom right? Any comforting comments would be great!

Baby Shower!

Yeah for showers! Lisa gave me a shower yesterday at my Grandma's house in Roy and it was so fun! We had a great turn out, in fact almost everyone came. Adam and I got tons of great stuff and we are so so so grateful! There are tons of pictures below. Three big surprises were a crib from the Day side, a quilt my Mom pieced together and quilted, and a vibrator chair from Karen and her girls. We also got tons of cute clothes, bath stuff, toys, books, and much more. Thank you to everyone who came. You saved our tails with the baby stuff and we are so grateful!

The babies room!

It is all finished minus the crib and the cute bedding that goes on the crib. We don't have a crib yet so I'll post pictures of that when we get one. What I love most about his room is everything is made by someone who loves Dayton or have value to someone who loves Dayton. I think that makes his room great!

The brown shelf my brother Joe painted for Dayton. The letters I covered with paper and decorated by hand. The tiger was won at Circus Circus by Grandma and Grandpa Day.

The stroller was bought by Grandma Sue and carefully picked out by me and Adam.

The cute wall hangings and valance just came with the bedding so there isn't anything special about those except, I think they are cute!

The books are all ones that Adam and or I love! The board books have been loved and used by many kids that we have tended. Some of the other books were Adam's when he was a kid. Others are just some of my favorties that I have had for awhile like Oh the Places You'll Go by: Dr. Suess and You are Special. I hope he loves stories because teacher mommy is a sucker for them!

Last by certainly not least the toys and his closet. Adam was so cute about decorating his closet. A few weeks ago when we were putting it all together he got all giddy, as he often does for Dayton, and ran downstairs. He came back up with a big grey tub that had Adam's Stuff written on it. He opened it up and started pulling out all his toy animals and stuffies from when he was a kid. He reminised about each one and arranged them in the closet for Dayton. He is so excited and can't wait until he can play with Dayton. I asked him, "You know that the baby won't be able to play with this kind of stuff for a long time right?" Anyway is was so neat watching Adam have so much fun and be so happy getting ready for our baby boy!

Note: He also built a cabin with the lincoln logs that is on the top shelf so you can't see it. Also that darling outfit is our first baby outfit ever recieved and it is from Grandma Sue.

Ranting and Raving!

So our parent teacher conferences are next week and I just got my schedule. I laughed when I looked at it. I honestly couldn't help it! Listen to this...

On Wednesday we get out of school at 1. My conferences start at 1:15 and go until 6:00pm with NO BREAKS for the pregnant lady to eat or pee might I add. So that equals approximately 5 hours. Then on Thursday school gets out at 2:20 and conferences start at 2:30 and are sceduled until 7pm. ONCE AGAIN NO BREAKS! So that equals about 4 1/2 hours.
TOTAL TIME: 10 hours! Plus I have 2 students that are not even scheduled!!!!


Can someone tell me how this is humanly possible?!? And humanly pregnant lady who has preterm contractions after teaching one day possible? I mean really?

So as many of you know after PT conferences we get that Friday off. The idea is that Wednesday and Thursday night conferences will make up a full contracted work day which is 7 1/2 hours. Well I did the math and mine adds up to about 10 hours. I understand that this is not a huge deal because I am on salary and working 3 hours over time isn't going to kill me but I just have to pull the UNFAIR CARD!

Unfair because all the other teachers have a normal class size which equals less daily stress and prep time overall.
Unfair because all the other teachers get breaks to eat faculty lunch. I'm really upset about the food!
Unfair because I get to prepare 12 more folders for conferences than most teachers which cuts my normal prep time. This results in more preparing at home when I should be resting!
Unfair because other teachers will only meet with parents for a total of about 5 1/2 hours, if they have 22 students, instead of 10 hours. Seriously half of my time!
Unfair because you know what they get to do with the other contract time when they don't meet with parents? Ya, prepare for next week and do other such teacher like responsibilities!

So not only do I not get food but it puts me far behind in my daily planning and prep time! Grrr!

I think I will be spreading my conferences out over three days and hope that helps. We will see if it really does. Wish me luck!

School starts tomorrow and I'm already feeling the pressure of 33 fifth graders. I think I will be going to bed at 8pm.

Happy New Year!

Our new years eve was spent just the two of us! We slept in, had breakfast together, ran a few errands, went to hardware ranch, ordered Chinese food for dinner and watched 3 movies. It was a lazy day and we didn't even stay up until midnight just 11pm. It was nice to go to bed!
Here are a few pictures up the canyon. The sled rides were not running so this is the best picture I could get of the elk. There were not many there but I think more will come as the winter gets colder. If you look really close you can see the elk behind us! We also ate a picnic lunch at Hardware Ranch in the car. It might sound lame but it was fun!

This is me at 30 weeks to the day! Don't mind my pale chubby face. I have just noticed that it is starting to pudge a little and although it is depressing what can ya do? 2 more months and I will be feeling so much lighter.

The tragic event of last year is that one of our little frogs in the fish tank jumped out and died. Adam filled the tank too full I guess. In the back on the lid there are two holes for the heater and filter and so we figure he must have jumped out. Stupid frog! So we found him on the carpet dried up, dead! Goodbye froggy! I must say I don't really feel that bad for you! Does that make me heartless?
