One of Dayton's amazing traits is that if he is poopy he will not go to sleep. He will scream and scream if he is messy and in his crib. If you think about it this really is a good thing because I don't want him sleeping in it and getting a rash. Anyway, last night Adam put him down and as soon as he laid him in his crib he started screaming. Sometimes he does this just because he doesn't want to go to bed but very rarely lately. I asked Adam if he was poopy and he said no so we let him scream for an hour. He usually cries himself to sleep within an hour so after one hour I decided to go in to calm him down. I always feel terrible when I go in there and see his face with tears streaming down his cheeks and his eyes with a look of betrayal. So I picked him up and started rocking him and as soon as I did that he threw up all over me. If you didn't know, this is also one of his "amazing" traits. He is great at getting himself so worked up that he pukes. After the throw up we took him to the tub and his whole body was shaking and covered in puke. We felt real crummy by now. Then, come to find out when we got him undressed for his bath he was poopy. Oh man, we could have saved ourselves all that trouble... 1 hour of screaming, throw up, bath, shaking child etc. if we just would have noticed the poop. Gee! I can't wait until he can talk and just tell us what is wrong.
We went to the Ear Nose Throat doctor this past week and after careful consideration decided to put tubes in Dayton's ears. His surgery is this next Tuesday. It should only be about a 30-45 minute procedure including fall asleep and wake up time. We feel good about our decision and hope it will all go smoothly. I am a bit nervous about putting him to sleep with anesthesia when he is so little but that is probably just because I always have a hard time with anesthesia myself. The doctor said usually by the time a child has 4-5 ear infections in a year they recommend tubes and Dayton has had 7 in 8 months so he is way over. He also said that it is not good for him to be on antibiotics that much because he will build up a resistance. Plus too many ear infections can lead to some hearing damage and burst ear drums plus Dayton just constantly being in pain. So considering all the benefits and the one risk (that the tiny 2 mm hole they put in his ear drum won't heal over by itself and they will have to go in a sew it up) we are going to have the put in. We will keep you posted about how it goes.

Easter
We had good Easter morning. We opened our baskets! Dayton loved the jelly beans as you can tell in the pictures. He also loved the bubbles! The Easter bunny also brought some Disney movies for us. What a great idea?

Later that afternoon we had family dinner at Mama Sue's and an easter egg hunt. Dayton figured out real quick that he was supposed to pick up the eggs and put them in his bucket. He was so cute doing it too! It was such a fun idea! Oh and we had yummy homemade chili too!

It was a nice Easter weekend. Thanks Chandler family for a great time. :)

Desert Star Theater
Mama Sue really spoiled us and took us to the Desert Star Theater last weekend. It was so fun! We laughed so hard probably because the show was the Beverly Hillbillies. You can even order food while the show is going. It has such a fun atmosphere! Thanks Mama Sue! Oh and thanks Janae for letting Dayton play with Evelyn and Ainslie while we went to the show.

Moab!!!
We just got back from Moab. We spent Tuesday evening, Wednesday, and Thursday there. It was so so so fun! Dayton loved camping! He slept through both nights and ate a fair share of dirt too. He loved hiking in his green pack and even hiked some of the steep slick rock himself. He was just a trooper the whole time! He also loved jeeping too! I was surprised because he hates car rides but I guess with the top off and no windows it is way different. We went on Desert Plateau this time. On the trip we saw many arches, some caves, old mining cabins, and La Boca Arch. It was a good time! Adam took Dayton after our first trail on another trail that he said was much harder and had crazy stuff! Dayton slept the whole second trial and I stayed at camp and napped. Adam said it was a good thing cause I would have hated it. I can only handle so much of the scary rock climbing. (There is one picture of another jeep on the second trail to give you an idea.)We had a great time together and even went swimming. It was so nice to be together!

Best husband ever!
Yesterday Adam let me get some new tennis shoes since my old ones are too small after having Dayton. I love them, especially the pink nike! Thank you babe! Plus they were on sale for $38.99 instead of the original $59.99. That makes them even cuter! :)

He also surprised me with daisies! He had them all set up next to our bed so when I woke up this morning I would be surprised. They also had a sweet note on them. I was so happy I cried just a little though. I honestly felt so special! Love you babe!

Took Dayton to the doctor Wednesday and he has two more ear infections. That makes 5 since November. The doctors are recommending tubes so we have a consultation with the ear nose throat doctor on Monday the 25th. We will go from there.

Cool dude!
Our new favorite way to exercise is by going on walks in the morning. We walk at least 2 miles, quickly. It is perfect weather, the sun is shining, the birds are out, and the air is cool. Dayton gets to wear his cool Cars sunglasses. He actually loves them! He grins ear to ear whenever I put them on. I always say, "Cool dude!" He is such a smiler!

Some other info about our family right now.
1. We just finished getting our plans for a 3 car garage drawn up.
2. We just got a bid for the foundation, flat work, and a cement porch done. It is much lower than the other bid we got.
3. We currently have a contractor in our ward, Syd Wengreen, working on biding the framing. We are crossing our fingers that it comes back realistic for us to do.
4. The plans include enlarging my kitchen and a bonus room above the garage. :)
5. Adam has been working til midnight every day this week and back into the office by 8am. He is working hard for us!
6. We leave to Moab and St. George on Tuesday. Yes, we are camping! I think Dayton will love it! We have taken him camping twice so far.
7. We recently had all the big root balls and stumps from the terrible wind storm last fall ground up. Now we have lots of piles of dirt and wood chips to clean up.
8. We also had another willow tree in the front taken down. It was weak and old and covered our house. Plus it'll be in the way of our soon to be driveway. It really opens up our yard.
9. Our chickens are big now and leave their warm box often to go out in the run.
10. I am still tending 2 girls both part time. Sadie age 4 and Liya age 6. It is so fun to have them at my house. Liya is such a helper! I will miss her when she is in 1st grade next year. This summer I will get to start watching our friends little boy, I can't wait. He will be brand new too! Brit is due in 2 weeks. It'll be so fun!
We can't wait to get away on Tuesday! Sunshine... :)Then our sunglasses will really come in handy!

Spring has sprung!
Clues that spring is here...
1. My daffodils and tulips are blooming!
2. We have been playing outside a lot!
3. Bugs and birds are out!
4. Yard work!
5. Cute spring pictures!
I took these ones and I must say I think they turned out nice. Not because of my
photography skills, just because I have a dashing young man! :)

These were taken Sunday morning after his haircut Saturday. It was his first haircut actually using the buzzer thing on the sides and doing it while he was awake. He actually did really well! He didn't whine at all! He just sat on the bathroom counter watching me cut his hair in the mirror. I think he looks so big with the cut and my Mom misses his curls. :)

Sick
This week we have been sick at our house. Dayton has had a bad cough which gets him so worked up that he throws up. This has happened multiple times in one day, right after his bath at night, in the morning, and even in the middle of the day. I am so sick of throw up. Well, of course just as I am grumbling over cleaning up all the puke all week long Heavenly Father decided to show me he has a sense of humor. As if to say, "This is part of being a Mom and you signed up for it."
After being up with Dayton a lot this week in the night and specifically at 4am on Thursday night I was feeling really yucky. Hot then cold, hot then cold, belly aching and other symptoms I will spare you I finally threw up at 7am. Yes, it was so gross! It has been a couple of years since I have thrown up and I forgot how nasty it is. Well, Dayton was following me around the house while I carried my bucket from the kitchen where the puking started to the bathroom. Perfect, my one year old wanting to be a part of the puke party. Then I laid on the couch to rest and what did he do? Yup, came and put his face right next to mine and laid by me. After these two events I asked Adam to call my Mom and see if she would be willing to tend Dayton for the day. I just didn't see this going well.
Can I just say that I have the best Mom and Dad ever!?! They always are willing to tend Dayton whether it is just for us to go on a date, I'm not feeling well, or so I can run some errands. THANK YOU PADRES! You have no idea how much that helped me. While I was home resting and getting better Dayton had a blast with Grandma, Grandpa and his Uncles. They built a snowman and the picture below just shows how much fun he had.

Needless to say, after many loads of puky laundry this week I think my bug is gone. Thank heavens!Dayton's cough is getting better, after trying 3 cough medicines, Muccinex did the trick. The good news is he has not thrown up since Thursday. And the even better news is...
OUR DAD GETS TO BE HOME IN ONE MORE WEEK! Yeah! I have really missed him.
