Super Kid

Dayton is super kid this upcoming week in my preschool! He is so excited! He really is bursting at the seams to show his poster to "the kids" and bring snack! Today we spent a good half hour working on his All About Me poster and we both enjoyed every minute of it! He is getting so good at coloring in the lines and he can write a couple of  letters and draw circles too. I am not going to lie, I ate up every second of this "project time." It got me thinking about how much more of this type of thing I will get to do with him as he grows up.
Some notable things he said...
He lives in a park. (Hyde Park? I don't know if that is really what he meant because we haven't ever talked to him about this.)
He likes to eat hot dogs.
His friends are Baily, Preston, Logan, Lucas, Jaxon and James. (The other friends listed needed some prompting from me.)
His favorite color is yellow. (This was news to me. So, I asked him a couple of times and even showed him markers that were different colors but he still said yellow.)
I asked him, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" He flexed his muscles and said, "STRONG!" Hahaha! Endless smiles from that answer!

My sweet Preschooler! He is going to be a heart breaker!

After doing his poster, just look at that face!

Homecoming Parades

On Friday my Mom and I went to Sky View's homecoming parade with the kids. It was so fun! D loved the police men and the firetrucks. Rachel didn't even cry when the sirens sounded. She was waving to all the people in the parade, that was cute! D got tons of candy and was the most excited about picking it up this time. Normally he gets a handful at first and is happy to eat just those. Now, he knows more candy is coming and he has learned to run after it. I am not sure if that is a good thing? Well, we did have fun together!

Saturday we went to USU's homecoming parade on main street in Logan. It was LONG! About an hour and a half and it didn't have near as much candy as SV parade. However, Uncle Jared caught a Frisbee for D and Rachel got a stuffed cow from Chick Fil'A. Those were both better than candy, I think. We do love parade's!

Yes, that is Jared's finger in the corner, and yes it was in all 5 shots he took of us. Goof! I did not feel like cropping it out.

And just because he is cute! He drew this chalk picture for me and asked me to come see it and take a picture. He held his arms out like this and said, "It's amazing!" Where has he heard that word? I was surprised! I guess that is what he gets for having a preschool teacher for a mother.

Rachel is 10 months!

Nuts right? I cannot believe my baby is almost one. Some things about Rach.

No teeth, working on them.
Loves green beans, the real ones.
Drinks water from a sippy and thinks it is fun.
Adores her brother.
Always wants to be up and moving. So, so, so close to walking!
Can stand for a good 30 seconds on her own.
Wears a size 3 diaper and a size 3 shoe.
Her hair is getting longer and goes into two small pigtails.
Sleeps from 8pm-6am then takes a bottle and sleeps until 8am.
Is happy with Mom but rarely happy to be left. Totally sensitive about who she goes to.
Loves music and to dance. She shakes her head and bounces up and down. Seriously, so cute!
She loves her Mom and Dad!
She loves playing in the dishwasher and with silverware.
Wears 12 months clothes in everything now and some 18 month too.
She is getting curious and showing her personality more and more.
Says, "mama, dada, and DayDay" (Dayton). Sometimes she says "hi."

She LOVES swings! The other day while at the park, she was swinging with Daddy and when I took her off she cried. Funny but sad.
We love our Rachel!

The New Job

Adam loves his new job! It is fun for him and challenging. He gets to really be "in" on a lot of big issues and he handles some pretty important matters. He is liking the business administrator that is over him, Zane. He is very complimentary of Adam and easy to work with. The past two weeks have been crazy at home for me though -Adam is at the office by 8am and if he is home by 6:30pm that is an early day. So, I am getting worn out but obviously I am happy he is so happy about it. He even said, " A 12 hour day now, doesn't even feel like an 8 hour day did at Allred Jackson firm." I think it is because he is so much more involved. He comes home excited to talk to me about what he did at work. He actually has things to say too! Before it was just a short, "my day was fine," type of answer. That is fun for me to see his excitement about it all.

We are just so grateful and feel so blessed that Adam got this job! I know it will be a good fit for him and hopefully sooner than later (no more long hours) a better fit for our family as well.

Home Decor

I am cheap! Or thrifty, whatever way you like to phrase it. Here are a few decoration that are new around here thanks to Ksl classifieds (where else?) Dollar Tree, and Hobby Lobby. I like them! I am so happy I have finally gotten around to putting up some decorations after living here for 5 months.
Rug $20, ksl.

Bird, Hobby Lobby $6. It is not a fall thing, just a normal decoration that I'll hang different items from depending on the season. Small wreath, I added the berries to from Hobby Lobby $5.

Vases that are always there filled with flowers and leaves from Dollar Tree, $4 of flowers in each vase.

New entry table that I LOVE! Ksl for $100 which is not a "steal" in my mind but was a good deal. Gee whiz do you know how much people sell these for new? YIKES! This picture doesn't show the table real well but it does have a distressed look and a large drawer on the front. Decorations on the table from Dollar Tree, minus the tile, ghost and pumpkin ceramic my Grandpa made, and the oil lamp I already had. It was $9 for all of it. I think it looks festive!

Fall is my favorite season and Adam and I both love Halloween. It can't come soon enough. Only a month away, crazy!

Disney Movie Club

I joined Disney Movie Club last week. I ordered 7 new Disney DVD's for $21.00 including shipping. CRAZY GOOD DEAL! The only stipulation is that I had to commit to buy two more at full price in the next two years. Easy! I am so thrilled to have new movies to watch. Dayton LOVES Tangled, mostly because of the music. I love having a change of what we watch. When these came in the mail this week I was literally jumping for joy!

A few laughs from Dayton...

Things Dayton has said this past week worth mentioning. Honestly, there are too many funny things but here are a few.

While hanging out at Grandma's.
Me: Dayton, if you are 2 then how old is Mommy?
D: Umm... 5! (very excited voice)
Me: Oh! If I am 5 then how old is Grandma?
D: Umm... (longer pause, you could tell he was really thinking) 7!

I don't think either of us would complain about those answers.

While putting on my make up and Dayton was sitting on the potty.
D: Wow Mom, you look like a pretty princess.
Me: Oh, thank you Dayton that is so nice! I like being a princess.
D: No, you're not a princess you are my Mommy!
Me: Oh, but I want to be a princess and a Mommy.
D: No. You can't be a princess because you are just my BEST Mommy!

Sweet boy! Apparently Belle, Jasmine, and Cinderella there is no Mommy stuff in store for you!

While driving in the car.
D: Mom I am a boy!
Me: Yes, you are. What is Mom?
D: You are a girl.
Me: You are right. What is Rachel?
D: She is my sister!

I sure love our son!

Day to day stuff

These pictures are all off my phone. I just wanted to post some of the shots I have taken in our normal day to day life. Mostly, I just want to remember doing the normal stuff like hanging out with our cousins, playing at home, going to the park, digging for worms, going to the grocery store, visiting Grandma and Grandpa, etc. Rachel is 9 months in these pictures and Dayton is 2 1/2 years old.

Picnic at the Park

Today was a bit of a lazy day. I wasn't feeling up to making lunch and the kids were all loaded in the car after getting D and Rach from the sitter after preschool. So, I resorted to Wendy's dollar menu for lunch. We took it to the park and the kids ate awesome! Then they spent about an hour playing. It was so fun to be outside! It feels like it's been awhile since we played at a park. That is probably because once school started life got a bit busier for me. Shame on me, right? The cooler weather made for a more enjoyable afternoon at the park. I do have to say that I was impressed with Rachel's climbing skills. She rocked the steps and even made it up some of the plastic rock steps too. She also LOVES the swings! Dayton and Baily played choo choo train down the slides. Creative kids!
